President Conducts Working Visit to the Ministry of Energy & Water Resources

The President of the North Eastern State of Somalia, Mr. Mudane Cabdulqaadir Axmed Aw-Cali, paid a working visit to the Ministry of Energy & Water Resources in Las Anod, where he was warmly received by the Minister, senior officials and staff of the Ministry.

The visit formed part of the President’s ongoing programme to assess the performance of government institutions and monitor the implementation of priority development initiatives across the state. During the visit, the President met with the Ministry’s leadership to review its current activities, achievements and future plans for strengthening the water and energy sectors.

The President received a comprehensive briefing from the Minister of Energy & Water Resources, Mr. Cabdi Xasan Maxamed (Hijaar), who outlined the Ministry’s recent accomplishments, ongoing programmes and strategic priorities. The presentation highlighted progress made in expanding access to water services, strengthening institutional capacity and advancing initiatives aimed at improving energy infrastructure throughout the North Eastern State.

In addition, the Ministry’s Director of the Information Technology Department delivered a detailed presentation on the institution’s overall performance, ongoing development projects and future plans for enhancing water and energy services. The presentation also covered administrative reforms, digital transformation initiatives and efforts to improve coordination and service delivery across the Ministry.

Following the briefing, the President toured various departments within the Ministry, where he met with employees and observed their day-to-day operations. The visit provided an opportunity to assess working conditions, review the quality of public services and gain first-hand insight into the Ministry’s operational capacity and institutional performance.

During discussions with Ministry officials, the President commended the staff for their commitment and dedication to public service. He encouraged employees to continue strengthening teamwork, professionalism and accountability while maintaining high standards of service delivery to meet the growing needs of communities across the state.

The President also emphasised the importance of improving coordination among government institutions and ensuring that development programmes are implemented efficiently and transparently. He noted that strengthening governance, promoting accountability and accelerating the implementation of strategic development plans remain essential to achieving sustainable progress in the water and energy sectors.

Officials attending the meeting reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable services while continuing to expand access to clean water and modern energy solutions. They also highlighted the importance of continued government support in implementing projects that contribute to economic development and improved public welfare.

The working visit concluded with the President expressing confidence in the Ministry’s leadership and workforce, encouraging them to build on their achievements and continue implementing programmes that support the long-term development goals of the North Eastern State of Somalia. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and improving essential services for communities throughout the Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions.
