Six Months of Security Reform and Strategic Progress
Between January and June 2025, Somaliland has witnessed a period of substantial reform and development in national security under the direction of Minister H.E. Deeq Abdiaziz Jidaal. These six months have been characterized by the modernization of security infrastructure, strengthening of intelligence networks, and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance public safety.
Minister Jidaal has prioritized four key areas: counterterrorism, border management, community policing, and capacity building within law enforcement agencies. The Ministry of Internal Security has introduced advanced surveillance systems, established rapid-response teams, and reinforced protocols for intelligence-led operations. These measures enhance the government’s ability to anticipate, prevent, and respond to potential threats.
In parallel, Minister Jidaal has emphasized the importance of regional cooperation. Diplomatic engagements with neighboring states have focused on joint security operations, coordinated border control, and sharing of intelligence data. These partnerships reflect a proactive approach to maintaining stability in a region with complex security challenges.
The emphasis on transparency and accountability has been central to Minister Jidaal’s strategy. Training programs, ethical guidelines, and public outreach initiatives have strengthened citizens’ trust in security institutions and promoted a culture of collaborative governance.
Overall, the first half of 2025 reflects a period of strategic consolidation for Somaliland’s security architecture. Minister Jidaal’s approach demonstrates how visionary leadership, operational expertise, and diplomatic engagement can collectively foster national resilience and regional stability.
